Jeff's January 2016 Update

Happy New Year everyone!  I am looking forward to what God is going to accomplish this year and want to thank you for your support as we move forward.

Every year I am invited to share at UCSB with the students who are taking the Underserved Medicine Class through Doctors without Walls.  A team of us shared with approximately 170 students about the work we are doing to care for friends on the streets and to open up housing pathways.  I was able to share with them a holistic vision for the Alameda park meal sharing with friends without homes, which includes meeting their medical needs but also being aware that there are other needs being met at the park – spiritual, psychological, emotional, and social.

I invited more students to join us at the park every Thursday night as we are building a collaborative of 13 organizations to help reduce homelessness at the park.

This month our Alameda Park collaborative also met, where 13 organizations are now involved at the Thursday night meal sharing!  This includes four churches who provide meals and are getting engaged with learning how to meet the spiritual needs of those who come to the park.  The churches are Oceanhills, Santa Barbara Community, Montecito Covenant, and Christ Presbyterian.  Please pray for each of these churches and I am very thankful that they provide meals and care for our street friends.

Please pray as well for the wonderful staff members who I oversee – Kyli Larson, Landon Ranck, Kati Paye, and Haley Parzonko.  Love to you all!
