Exploitation Prevention Update- October 2016

Firstly, thank you for all that you have contributed to my work with Uffizi Order over the past three years. Thank you for your encouragement, financial generosity, and compassion to learn about a difficult and prevalent issue

Recently my husband and I made the difficult decision to move out-of state, leaving Santa Barbara, our work, and the incredible community that has cared for us while we’ve been here. After moving through what was for me an arduous and challenging decision process, I feel confident that we are making a move that’s right for us at this time. With that being said, one of my main struggles in leaving was the question of who would continue the anti-trafficking work I’ve been doing —

cue Hannah Early: a lovely, bright recent graduate. Hannah expressed interest in work that is similar to what I’ve been doing with Uffizi, and we discussed the possibility of her continuing some of the projects I started. She subsequently shadowed me over the summer, learning key players, relevant context, and information that will be critical for her continuing Exploitation Prevention work. Hannah has proven herself more than capable of addressing complex issues with grace, curiosity, and creativity, and I look forward to her contributions to the community.

I would like to ask you to consider either continuing or beginning to support Hannah financially to continue this work; as she makes the transition, she will be fundraising, but I would like her to have a solid base for her efforts. I would love for Hannah to be able to continue the work I’ve done, but also feel the freedom to bring her own creative ideas.

Keep reading to hear from Hannah, but know that I am incredibly grateful for you all, and look forward to the ways that Uffizi can continue to advocate for and with, create strategies to address, and collaborate on behalf of the marginalized, particularly survivors of trafficking in our area. Thank you for helping us do so.

Hello all! My name is Hannah Early, and as Kyli mentioned above, I began transitioning into the role of Exploitation Prevention Coordinator at the beginning of September. I have been so grateful to learn from Kyli’s experience and expertise. Now that Kyli has fully transitioned out of her position with Uffizi, I am in a “pre-field” stage of fundraising. Fundraising is a new endeavor for me, but I am already encouraged by the opportunities that have been presented to me in the first few weeks. I am eager to continue where Kyli left off, but to do so I will first need to finish fundraising. As Kyli mentioned, I would be grateful for your continued support, whether that be financially and/or through prayer. More to come, but for now, I want to thank you for the support you have already demonstrated towards Uffizi’s work of seeking justice for survivors of exploitation in Santa Barbara. -Hannah

With gratitude and in the Spirit of Shalom,

Kyli
